Water’s Power

newzealand_driftwood

Nature has exquisite taste.
Everything about it is perfect. Everything is unique. There are no identical trees, lakes, mountains…

Inspired by the nature, I wanted to give a new life to something that most us would consider waste. New Zealand has beautiful and rare materials available on the shore of the Pacific Sea, and each piece is unique.

Basically the idea was to create an interior designed set that could fit any room of the house, made of driftwood. The concept was a paradox, where electrical power and water were the protagonists to emphasise the natural process behind a driftwood piece. After I found the perfect wooden pieces, I started working on them to gave back their natural splendour. I did not use any heavy machines. Just a simple saw, drill, pocket knife, sandpaper and the most important thing… love. The surface of the pieces had beautiful coloring and endless patterns, which made the wood itself a piece of art. Time and the power of water made most of the job.
